tenB?

Welcome to tenB Ceramics. I am Bec Palmer and I hope you enjoy looking through my latest ceramic creations.

I have spent the last 20 years working as a paediatric nurse and for the majority of my career I have been based in beautiful Oxfordshire.

My pottery story started when I accompanied my mother to a taster pottery course back in 2018. Despite the achievement of both of our careers we felt busy jobs had somewhat stood in the way of our creative expression. That afternoon we threw the most perfectly imperfect pots and were taken aback by the joy they brought us.

Following 3 years of daydreaming of learning more, I attended an introductory course in 2021 following the easing of lockdown restrictions. And so things grew from that point. Bar a couple of short courses, I am largely self-taught.

My ceramics paraphernalia soon outgrew our little Oxford cottage, No10 Mill Street. And so I moved into what we came to refer to as 10b, a modest outhouse (300 year old stone privy!) at the bottom of our garden. There I spent many a happy hour perfecting my skills.

Our family and all pottery operations have since relocated to a more expansive studio (a garage lean to!) in the Netherlands where my love of and skills in ceramics continue to grow. I find the organic nature of clay and that no piece will ever be the same but that each is formed beneath my hands incredibly rewarding. The limitless possibilities, the magic that happens inside the kiln and the joy of opening that lid continues to fascinate me and inform my collections.
